132kv substation at limeburner lane, city of london

Positioned in Limeburner Lane, previously known at Seacole Lane Substation, the building is in close proximity to a number of significant buildings including St Paul's Cathedral & the Old Bailey.  It's land is adjacent to the Thameslink tunnel making it a sensitive Project to undertake.

Project Objective

As NEC ECC Contract Project Manager for the Client (UK Power Networks) and with plenty of high profile stakeholders, our project was part of the City of London Reinforcement Infrastructure Strategy for London.

Durasteel installed throughout this substation (formerly known as Seacoal Lane Substation) with the demolition of a 1960s office block to enable the new substation to be constructed.

At £38m and with maintaining an operational substation below the new construction, this project was also in the spot light for its close proximity to the Old Bailey and St. Paul’s Cathedral as well as having a boundary wall directly shared with the Thameslink Line.

What did Diligence contribute to this project?

Providing Project Management as both a consultant and later as an Employee of UKPN, reporting to the Senior Project Manager, the day to day project responsibilities of a Project Manager were in play.  Sensitive collaboration with City of London, City of London Police, Land Securities, Network Rail and other stakeholders meant there was lots of coordinating - not least on the delivery and installation of the 3 x 90 Tonne Wilson Transformers.

Please see video to see our Project Manager’s liaison and stakeholder management results as one of three 90 tonne transformers were delivered to site.
